Pretty vintage details ...

a jug full of peonies

It's been a while since I posted something "pretty" in terms on vintage home details ... so today is the day. This post is about the little things that make vintage, truly vintage ... the textures, the fabrics and textiles, the soft colours, the worn paint, pretty crockery, flowers in jugs, using everyday items for decoration... These pictures were all sourced directly from Country Living - the best gallery for vintage details.
Feast your eyes ....

exquisite upholstery and scatters in ticking

layers of wonderful vintage linens - note the embroidery, the lace, the buttons ....

an old cupboard laden with crockery, and again, a jug with flowers

a variety of wonderful crockery and salt & pepper cellars...

a vintage dresser - the paint worn away with the years

a soft blue ceramic vase laden with pumpkins ....

a pressed rose, and old frames

Gena,
We always hear that shades of white belong to the Royal colour group...its true...I see it in most of the snaps...even when it fades it still battles out to have that tenacious hold on its royalty...that's what is amazing..I see the same on my car even after 5 years..white is superior...it blends well with other colours like black.

I love the soft blue ceramic vase laden with pumpkins.....it looks as though its kept in a palace...and the faded colour on the cupboards too.The pressed flower looks cool in that frame...I wonder how they keep in intact from insects...it brings back memories of my adoloscent and early twenties...I was attracted to a girl who was my sister's friend..she used to come home with her hair laden with flowers..when she left I used to collect and keep those that had fallen...nothing worked out between us in life as we never really expressed what we had in our minds...it was like another photographic situation...several situations came with feelings between us and went away...the flowers dried and I had them for years...finally I got rid of them...I have a different perspective of life now...

Best

Yes, some people even say white is clinical, and yet it can be one of te most adaptable colours - goes with everything, in any setting - it's striking and very dominant - they caution you that in garden design/ landscaping if you use white flowers they will dominate the garden, it's very true .... our iceberg roses were recently awash with flower and that is ALL you saw!!! ....

You are a total poet, Roy.. even in your feedback your words are like prose .. the way you describe white, for example, you have such a wonderful way of describing and verbalising your interpretation - excellent!!! and thanks as always!
